The Holidays

It seems it has been awhile since I last blogged.  It has been very busy around here lately!  Here it goes.

The holiday season always brings much fun, especially with two little boys at home!  Jaben started watching Christmas movies in October, so as you can imagine, he could not wait to put up the Christmas tree. Thanks to all the Christmas movies we have watched, I believe this led to the inevitable awkward moment at Wal-Mart.  A man walked by us with a red shirt, suspenders, a long white beard, etc.  Jaben yells out and points...."Santa!"  I did what all good moms would do, I ducked and ran with the cart full of Thanksgiving food and two children.

Back to the tree, I told Jaben we had to wait until after Thanksgiving to put it up.  Thanksgiving is not until tomorrow.  According to Jaben, it has already passed....and yes, the tree is up.  We had a family celebration for Thanksgiving at our house last Saturday.  As soon as everyone left, Jaben asked to put up the tree.  How could I say no?  So with a house full of dirty dishes, card tables, toys strewn about, down came the tree out of the attic.

We saved the lighting and decorating of ornaments for the next day.  The tree was just put up the night before, no fluffing, no tinsel, no nothing. Just tree.  That was plenty sufficient for Mr. Jaben.  Sunday, when Daddy was untangling the lights (and that is oh so fun) Jaben was blowing on the string of lights.  I asked what he was doing.  He informed me that he was "trying to blow the lights on the tree."  I just love his imagination!  He had of course seen this happen on Barney Christmas.  Thank you Barney.  If only it were that easy.   We have some white ornamental balls hanging on the tree and Jaben thought they were cotton tails...(cotton balls) and was shaking the glee right out of them.

On another fa la la, Josiah is a ball full of joy!  He is very close to crawling and he is sitting up by himself for short periods of time.  Of course, he is just mesmerized by anything that twinkles and glows, and most of all his brother.  He watches everything Jaben does.  Jaben loves to teach him!  The other day Jaben was showing Josiah is Little People Manger Scene and told him, "This is baby Jesus like you baby Josiah." So sweet!

We are headed to Waco tomorrow to celebrate Thanksgiving with more family!  I am looking forward to it!  We haven't been in Texas since our move out of Texas and we tried to fly threw it with furry and get out of there.  This trip will be much more enjoyable.

Happy Holidays!
